Autumn Sage

Salvia greggii

Autumn Sage is a small, mounding, semi-evergreen sub-shrub of rocky, well-drained limestone slopes across central and west Texas into northern Mexico, usually two to three feet tall and about as wide. Aromatic gray-green leaves back tubular, two-lipped flowers in red, pink, purple, orange or white that open from spring through fall and draw hummingbirds and butterflies nonstop. The leaves and flowers are edible, used fresh or dried for seasoning and tea, and regular tip pruning keeps the plant dense and blooming.
