Camelina
Camelina sativa
Camelina is a fast-maturing annual oilseed grown for its edible seed oil - historically used for lamp fuel and skin care as well as food - and for stem fiber once spun into cloth and rope. It thrives on poor thin soil where richer crops struggle and self-sows readily once established. It is a poor companion plant reported to depress the growth of species planted nearby.
