Tecoma stans
Esperanza is an upright, multi-stemmed shrub that carries clusters of large, bright yellow trumpet flowers from spring clear through to the first frost, or year-round where winters stay mild. It typically reaches two to six feet in cultivation, though it can grow much larger in frost-free climates, and it wants full sun to light shade on well-drained ground. Hummingbirds, butterflies and bees visit the flowers heavily, and once established it takes heat and drought with very little supplemental water.
