Golden Bamboo

Golden Bamboo is a short, dense running bamboo grown mainly for its shoots - rated the sweetest of the genus - along with light craft canes for stakes, handles and walking sticks. Its rhizome mat is aggressive enough that clearing it is notoriously difficult even behind hardscape barriers, so it needs a permanent walkable boundary on every side, with goats or cattle grazing the perimeter to help hold the line. Its heavy leaf litter can devastate a stream's food web if it ever reaches moving water, so it belongs on upland ground well away from any creek, pond margin or swale.
