Indian Blanket
Gaillardia pulchella
Indian blanket, also called firewheel, is a short-lived annual wildflower of dry, sandy and calcareous open ground across the central and southern United States and into Mexico. Its daisy-like flowers carry a red centre banded in yellow, blooming through the heat of summer. It self-sows readily and naturalizes into open sunny disturbed ground, drawing bees and butterflies to its long bloom season.
