Red Yucca

Hesperaloe parviflora

Red yucca is a heat- and drought-tolerant evergreen perennial with soft, yucca-like leaves forming a basal rosette, grown for its slender flower stalks of coral to pink tubular blooms carried well above the foliage from spring into summer. The flowers open at night for moths and draw hummingbirds by day. It tolerates a wide range of soil types from sand to clay as long as drainage is sharp, and needs almost no supplemental water once established.
