Rock Rose
Pavonia lasiopetala
Rock Rose is a small, woody-based perennial shrub in the mallow family with velvety, scalloped leaves and a long bloom season of showy pink, five-petaled flowers over pale yellow stamens. It draws hummingbirds and pollinating insects from spring through fall and needs an annual hard pruning to stay bushy rather than leggy. Drought-tolerant once established, it thrives in dry, well-drained, often limestone-derived ground in full sun to part shade.
