White Boneset

White Boneset, also called Havana Snakeroot, is a rounded, many-branched perennial shrub in the aster family that dies back to bare wood after a hard freeze and resprouts vigorously from the base. Fragrant white to pink flower clusters cover the plant from late summer into fall and draw a heavy flush of butterflies, moths and hummingbirds, serving as a larval host for the Rawson's metalmark butterfly. It thrives in dry, well-drained, rocky or limestone-derived ground in full sun to partial shade and tolerates extended drought once established.
