Fragrant Flowered Garlic
Allium ramosum
Fragrant flowered garlic is a bulb allium whose bulbs, leaves and flowers are all edible, with a pleasant sweetness over a strong onion flavor - the traditional seasoning for boiled mutton and dumpling filling across northern China and Mongolia. It needs full sun and cannot tolerate shade, and it actively inhibits the growth of nearby legumes, so it has to be kept clear of anything grown for nitrogen fixing. It also deters moles and repels moths, useful side effects of a plant grown mainly for the kitchen.
