Purple Poppy Mallow is a low, mat-forming perennial with trailing stems that spread along the ground beneath a mound of palmately lobed foliage. Cup-shaped, five-petaled magenta flowers open on short stalks above the foliage through spring and into summer. A large taproot gives it strong drought tolerance and suits it to hot, dry, well-drained, sunny ground, though the same root makes it difficult to transplant once established.
