Scarlet Globemallow is a low, sprawling perennial wildflower in the mallow family with velvety, star-haired grey-green foliage and clusters of brick-red to orange, cup-shaped flowers held above the leaves from spring into late summer. It spreads outward from a deep, long-lived taproot by both rhizomes and self-sown seed, gradually forming loose colonies. Extremely drought tolerant, it thrives in open, sun-baked, dry, low-fertility ground across the plains and high desert of central North America.
