Standing Winecup
Callirhoe digitata
Standing Winecup is an upright, clump-forming perennial wildflower in the mallow family, unusual among its relatives for growing on stiff, erect stems rather than trailing along the ground. Cup-shaped magenta to white blooms open through the growing season above deeply lobed leaves, drawing bees and other pollinators. A long taproot anchors it in dry, rocky, sun-baked ground and carries it through extended drought once established.
