Turkish Rocket

Turkish Rocket is a tough, clump-forming relative of cabbage that shrugs off poor soil and years of neglect, spreading slowly by seed rather than by running roots. The leaves have a mild cabbage flavor and can be picked from late winter clear through to autumn, and the flower buds work as a broccoli substitute with a milder, sweeter taste. Its taproot is thick, clustered and extremely hard to dig out once established, so plant it somewhere it can stay for good. Bees and flies keep the yellow flower clusters humming through summer.
