Yerba Mansa

Yerba Mansa is a low, mat-forming perennial herb of wet, alkaline ground across the arid southwestern United States and northern Mexico, its woolly stems rooting as they creep to form a solid ground cover. Spikes of white flowers rise above waxy basal leaves from spring into summer, and the aromatic rhizome has a long history of use for wounds, colds, digestive complaints and joint pain. It needs full sun to light shade and constantly wet, calcium-rich soil tolerant of high calcium carbonate, and can grow standing in shallow water.
