Pearl Milkweed Vine

Dictyanthus reticulatus

A slender twining vine native to Texas that trails or climbs over shrubs and rocky ground using its stems, reaching up to about twelve feet in length though often shorter. Star-shaped, pale green flowers with a pearly, iridescent center bloom from spring into fall and give way to large, spiny seed pods that split open to release silky-haired seeds carried by the wind. Like other milkweeds it serves as a larval host plant for Queen and Monarch butterflies.
